The definitive guide to ceramic production by Ideal Standard. How to find toilet seats for these sanitary ware with the Sintesibagno catalogue (part 5 ).

We started looking at sanitary ware, and their toilet seats, older than Ideal Standard in the post: ”The definitive guide to Ideal Standard sanitary ware. An incredible story told in the Sintesibagno toilet cover catalogue.(part 1)” where we began to discover some workhorses such as: PONTI ZONDINEMONVASELLISSECONCA and LINDA. Then in the post: ”The definitive guide to Ideal Standard’s ceramic production found with Sintesibagno’s toilet cover catalogue (part 2)” we discovered: VELARALIUTOAQUATONDARIALTO and DIAGONAL. Then in the post: ”The ultimate guide to Ideal Standard’s ceramic production with Sintesibagno’s catalogue we find toilet seats (part 3)” we found: TESICALLAAERO and IRIL. In the last post: ”The definitive guide to ceramic production by Ideal Standard. With the Sintesibagno online catalogue we find all toilet seat covers (part 4)” we saw: ALASMALLXL (X-ELLE) and CLASSIC.

FIORILE series Ideal Standard

After the glut of successes of the ’80s and ’90s, many in the industry thought it would be impossible to replicate ceramic series that would conquer the bathroom market and public taste like their predecessors. Instead, Ideal Standard surprised everyone once again and presented: Fiorile. Designed by Enzo Mari ‘s pencil, is a sanitary ware series with a distinct personality, expressed through clean lines inspired by pure design! Far removed from ephemeral and transient fashions. Capable of giving life to a unique and never imitated form, as we have seen in the post: ”Sanitary ware in unique and special shapes and their toilet covers”. Fiorile and the series seen in that post could easily have been the forerunner of a style, but for a variety of reasons (practical craftsmanship/production difficulties (competitors cannot do certain processes), competition distracted in other projects,….) it did not happen and they remained unique.

Because of its stylistic uniqueness, Fiorile sanitary ware is suitable for both classic retro and modern bathrooms. Its soft rounded shapes culminate at the top with a characteristic protrusion, almost lip-like we might say. It was produced in the white Eu colour and in the legendary white Ideal Standard colour. (see HERE). Its elongated oval toilet seats in two colours can be found in the Sintesibagno online catalogue at the following LINKS (White EU) and (White Ideal Standard).

FIORILE suspended Ideal Standard series

Given the very positive reception that the floor-standing version found on the bathroom market, the ceramic manufacturer decided to propose a wall-hung version as well. Ideal Standard was among the first to believe in suspended versions of sanitary ware and was the architect of the success that this type of WC and bidet has enjoyed since the early ’90s. We have explored this topic in the post: ”Suspended sanitary wares and their covers (Part 1)” where we saw series of Ideal Standard and no: ALAMONVASLINK and ZERO. And even in the post: ”Modern wall-hung sanitary ware. Fixings are concealed and top-mounted toilet seats are needed” where we discovered the latest suspension versions: EASYMUSEYASTARCK 2ALIAFROZEN. Looking at this sanitary ware, even in the wall-hung version, it retains its formal DNA unchanged. Clearly in the back where it rests against the wall, it loses its oval shape and ends with two 90° angles. This also leads to the toilet seat being different and also needing expansion fixing from above. Also in the wall-hung version, the Fiorile wall-hung toilet seat cover in white EU can be found at the following link [ clik here ], the Ideal Standard Fiorile white wall-hung toilet seat cover can be found at the following link [ clik here ]

FIORILE LUSSO series Ideal Standard

Early 2000s and the ceramic manufacturer Ideal Standard presents an updated edition of the Fiorile WC that will be called Lusso. This is the period in which all ceramic manufacturers are successfully proposing the flush-to-wall WCs and bidets (called carenati) that we discovered in the post: ”The floor-standing sanitary ware is flush with the wall. Soft, wrap-around shapes. Top-mounted toilet seats are needed (expa)”, SFERA by Catalano, OPEN SPACE by Ceramica Globo, FAST by Pozzi Ginori and LFT Spazio by Simas. Ideal standard keeps the front shape of the toilet unchanged and the Fiorile style extends it to the rear, bringing it flush with the wall. Seen from above it is the same as the wall-hung version, the starting oval has become a D-shape. As with the wall-hung toilet seat, a toilet seat cover is needed with fixing from above, because the toilet seat is not accessible from the rear due to its location against the wall. In the Sintesibagno online catalogue you will find the eu white toilet seat at the following link [ clik here ] and the toilet seat cover in the standard white colour at the following link [ clik here ]

In the image below we show the three Fiorile vase versions

TONDA series Ideal Standard

Let’s go back to the early ’90s to discover Tonda. Conceived and designed for Ideal Standard by Gae Aulenti was a formally innovative product. With Tonda, Ideal Standard gave birth to a new form of sanitary ware that did not exist before. It started with an oval shape and by moving back two sides it almost came to a triangular shape, while retaining its curves! It was presented from the outset in a floor-standing and wall-hung version, and customers were given the option of purchasing it in either Ideal Standard white or European white. A perfect toilet seat cover must be fitted to this sanitary ware. You can find it at the following link [ clik here ] both in the white eu version and in the white Ideal Standard version (here we explain the difference between the two whites)

Today we have seen other sanitary wares and their covers of old Ideal Standard production. The way to see and complete the complete catalogue of all the ceramic production of this company is very long but the important thing is to start. Perhaps you have recognised your toilet bowl and are able to buy the right and precise toilet seat cover without making a mistake. If, however, you are still in doubt about which toilet seat cover to look for for your wc in the bathroom, we suggest you send us an e-mail to info@sintesibagno.it or a WhatsApp message to 3341288978 with two pictures of your sanitary ware and a few measurements and we will be able to help you choose.
