The ultimate guide to ceramic production by Ideal Standard, with the Sintesibagno catalogue we find toilet seats (part 3)

We started looking at sanitary ware, and their toilet seats, older than Ideal Standard in the post: ”The definitive guide to Ideal Standard sanitary ware. An incredible story told in the Sintesibagno toilet cover catalogue.(part 1)” where we began to discover some workhorses such as: PONTI ZONDINEMONVASELLISSECONCA and LINDA. Then in the post: ”The definitive guide to Ideal Standard’s ceramic production found with Sintesibagno’s toilet cover catalogue (part 2)” we discovered: VELARALIUTOAQUATONDARIALTO and DIAGONAL.

TESI series Ideal Standard

This sanitary ware by Ideal Standard is part of the group of the company’s “five sisters” (the others being Conca, Ellisse, Linda and Liuto) which, thanks to them and the 90s catalogue in which they were presented together, all reached the top of the best-selling sanitary ware charts at the time. Tesi was the construction series par excellence. In those years in both public and private construction, it was difficult to find professionals in the sector who did not include it in the metric calculations of buildings. In the post: ”Replacing the toilet seat of a 90s toilet was how we talked about this ceramic series and its direct competitors”. We are in the golden age of the bathroom furniture market. These are years of great numbers and new constructions. During this period, sanitary ware series were established that we still find in many bathrooms today. These are staggering sales figures for the Italian market. Every ceramics company proposed a series that we can call from specifications. We call it this because the designers and architects of the great buildings of the period when they drew up the project included their names in the technical details. Here we find names that have become commonplace even to the uninitiated: Tesi series Ideal Standard, Sintesi series CesameClodia series DolomiteLuce series CatalanoFantasia series Pozzi Ginori. “In our opinion this Ideal Standard sanitary ware (with the possible exception of Conca) was the best-selling sanitary ware of all time: Tesi. We have already talked about it in the post ”Ideal Standard toilet seats and sanitary ware old models (part 1)”. We find it in so many bathrooms in our homes. In the 80s and 90s, there was no major building site that did not have it in its specifications. Its success was certainly due to its very original shape. Its designers started with a rectangular shape and softened it in the corners with full, soft curves. A very comfortable shape to look at and use. All Tesi sanitary ware covers can be found in the store, including the white Ideal Standard colour (which we explained to you in this post) and the coloured versions champagne, mink, whisper blue, whisper blue, whisper grey, whisper pink and whisper green at the following link [ clik here ]

CALLA series Ideal Standard

It is a sanitary ware series at the top of Ideal Standard’s range (price range like DIAGONAL). Also capable of launching a style like many other Ideal Standard series. A series that was able to surpass the MONTEBIANCO style in the English / retro style category. It was the first series of the modern era in bathroom furniture to be classic yet “modern”.

Serie CALLA Ideal Standard

Essential and imposing at the same time: Calla. A prestigious and important line, created to give the idea of luxury with class. We have seen its category competitors in the post: ”Modern sanitary ware, but with classic/antique shapes? How possible?” and they are: Canova Royal by Catalano, Bella Epoque by Cesame and Fidia by Flaminia. This series has been combined with a toilet seat cover with a specially made hinge named after it with a special chrome tube (pictured here). This original Calla toilet seat cover is unique and inimitable; its hinge with a rear tube embellishes the very figure of the toilet. Of course it comes at a price! So to please everyone, we have come up with the original toilet seat and the variants, which are still perfect, but definitely less expensive. All available toilet seat variants (including just the original hinge) are available in the store at the following link [ clik here]

AERO series Ideal Standard

It was launched as the designated heir of CONCA, In fact, it is often mistaken for its more famous “cousin” when buying a toilet seat, but looking at it closely from above you can see that, while Conca has a rectangular shape, Aero has a trapezoidal shape and in addition characteristically needs fixing from above because the toilet is not accessible from below/behind (for a more in-depth look at this type of toilet seat fixing, we suggest this link [ clik here ]). A series with a typical 90s style. Large volumes, rectangular shape, but very soft in the corners.

Serie AERO Ideal Standard

Like the Conca WC, the Aero also has its characteristic raised top at the rear, but it also has another peculiarity: the top is slightly tilted forward and, beyond the formal research, it was among the first sanitary ware lines to realise that this would make it easier and more comfortable for the user to get up and sit down! Complementing the WC was its wrap-around thermoset toilet seat cover that made it a compact and stylish element. Unfortunately, the original toilet seat can no longer be produced because the mould belonged to a company that has now disappeared. The Sintesibagno team however, has had a dedicated (and therefore perfect) toilet seat cover made for this Ideal Standard toilet bowl in coated wood white Ideal Standard and also in colour champagne.

IRIL series Ideal Standard (ex Scala)

As we saw in the post: “Ceramica Scala. Sanitary ware with basic but unique shapes and top quality ceramics. Toilet seat for its shapes” CERAMICA SCALA of Pordenone, when it was sold to American Standard, which later became Ideal Standard, was Europe’s largest sanitary ware company, with four plants between Pordenone, Roccasecca (Fr) and Spain. And 1969! It was founded only 25 years earlier by Giulio Locatelli and in a very short time became known for the very high quality of its ceramics, so much so that it immediately attracted the interest of the multinational American Standard, which rightly acquired it. Ideal Standard kept the brand active in the following years and entrusted it with the simplest lines of sanitary ware from a formal point of view, but still very robust, with a truly fantastic quality/price ratio. Iril is an example of this winning business strategy. The shape of this sanitary ware has inspired dozens of series from the ceramic manufacturers competing with Scala. We have seen some of them in the post: “Narrow WCs and bidets. Measurements less than 35 cm in width. What are the toilet seat covers for these sanitary wares?”, where we have seen sanitary ware that really looks like IrilELLISSE and ONDINE by Ideal Standard, PERLA by Dolomite. Like all such pots, its width is only 35 cm (a good 2 cm less than the standard oval, which makes 37 cm). So a narrow WC that can easily be placed in any bathroom environment. The very low list price range (Ideal Standard acquired the company Scala and kept the brand name active in order to have two product lines and different price ranges) allowed a diffusion worthy of a market superstar. You can find the IRIL toilet seats in the store, including the champagne colour variant, at the following link [ clik here ]

Today we have started to see sanitary ware and their covers of old Ideal Standard production. The way to see and complete the complete catalogue of all the ceramic production of this company is very long but the important thing is to start. Perhaps you have recognised your toilet bowl and are able to buy the right and precise toilet seat cover without making a mistake. If, however, you are still in doubt about which toilet seat cover to look for for your wc in the bathroom, we suggest you send us an e-mail to info@sintesibagno.it or a WhatsApp message to 3341288978 with two pictures of your sanitary ware and a few measurements and we will be able to help you choose.
