Ceramica Globo’s old sanitary ware models. Special shapes and unobtainable toilet seats ( part 1 ).
We have seen that Ceramica Globo at the beginning of the new millennium, it entered the Made in Italy design market with the OPEN SPACE and its series: OPEN SPACE, SPACE STONE, SPACE BOWL and SPACE FREE. But this ceramic company from Civita Castellana in the twenty years before its history had presented and produced many special series with the strangest shapes.
CLIO series Ceramica Globo
We are in the 80s, a period of market dominance by Ideal Standard and in particular by CONCA. Given the incredible success that this ceramic series was having on the market, many companies in the sector competing with Ideal Standard, including Globo with the Clio series, took inspiration from its shape and tried to compete with it with a similar shape. Almost all companies began to produce sanitary ware practically equal in size to the Conca. Ceramica Globo, too, decided to recall the shape, but make a change to the centre distance. We often hear customers asking for the Conca toilet seat with 18 cm centre distance. It doesn’t exist! But there is Globo’s Clio toilet seat cover, which is a toilet seat cover similar to the Conca but with a specific centre distance. AMICA series Ceramica Globo
It is the early 90s and Globo Ceramica launches a large oval-shaped series on the market. The bathroom furniture market came from sanitary ware and large rectangular toilet seats (see post HERE) and takes a formal turn and offers: Amica. This series shifts to softer, more rounded shapes. The top is a classic oval shape (typical where universal toilet seats can be fitted), only the measurements required to fit a perfect toilet seat have to be 49.5/50 cm deep, but above all it is the incredibly large width, a good 39 cm! LEI series Ceramica Globo
One of the best-selling series of Ceramica Globo. The Lei series remained in the company’s catalogue for almost twenty years. Together with its competitors from the 90s period: TESI Ideal Standard, SINTESI Cesame and CLODIA Dolomite shared a large portion of the bathroom market share, HERE the link where we talk about them and that period. A wide, regular oval, embellished with a slight rise at the back that partially follows its circumference, makes it the star of its figure.
