A definitive guide to Ideal Standard’s ceramic production. Let’s take a look at the Sintesibagno toilet seat catalogue (patre 7).

We started looking at sanitary ware, and their toilet seats, older than Ideal Standard in the post: ”The definitive guide to Ideal Standard sanitary ware. TONIC series Ideal Standard

We are at the beginning of the 2000s, a historic period for bathroom furniture made up of great movements of forms. Sanitary ware flush with the wall (known as “carenati”), proposed by all the ceramic manufacturers, became popular, and we have spoken about this at length in the post: ”The floor-standing sanitary ware is flush with the wall. Soft, wrap-around shapes. Top-mounted toilet seats are required (EXPA)” where we have seen among other things: SFERA by Catalano, OPEN SPACE CONCEPT by Globo, FAST by Pozzi Ginori and LFT Spazio by Simas. Ideal Standard always capable of intercepting consumer taste at its best presents: Tonic.

Serie TONIC Ideal Standard

Clean lines in line with the formal trends of the moment, everything is proportionate and proves as always that Ideal Standard rarely makes mistakes. The only small flaw that we can highlight more as a suggestion than a criticism, was the choice of proposing an elongated oval-shaped toilet seat cover on a D-shaped toilet bowl. This is a choice of “Nordic” taste, typical of German ceramic manufacturers. Perhaps a toilet seat cover that recalls the upper shape of the toilet bowl would have been more design-oriented. In any case, we at the Sintesibagno team have selected a toilet seat that we feel is much more appropriate than the original model on this sanitary ware and you can view and find it in the version with normal hinges at the following link [ clik here ] and the one with soft close (slow motion) hinges at the following link [ clik here ]

CANTICA series Ideal Standard

Ideal Standard’s Cantica series in the early 2000s won over industry critics and also a good share of the market. A distinctly rectangular sanitary ware made unique by very interesting depth changes between the top and bottom of the body. It was offered in both floor-standing and wall-hung versions. The design of the upper part of the toilet in the shape of an ellipse is beautiful. Precisely to accentuate this formal detail, we had one of our selected manufacturers make a white polyester-coated wooden toilet seat, a product dedicated to the toilet that is practically perfect and even better than the original plastic version that the ceramic manufacturer offered. You will find it in the Sintesibagno online catalogue at the following link [ clik here ]

NEMEA series Ideal Standard

We are still in the early 2000s. A period in which the company, in an attempt to replicate the great successes of the recent past, experimented with new formal and innovative avenues. We have seen sanitary ware of this conceptual style in the post: ”Sanitary ware in unique (special) shapes and their WC covers. MUSE, FIORILE and MEMORY” and we talked about it like this: “Today we will be looking at sanitary ware series that we consider unique shapes that are difficult to imitate. We have already seen in other posts, that often a ceramic house creates a shape and the others behind it imitate, change proportions and measurements and the sanitary ware series is presented to the market. The series we see in this post could easily have been the forerunners of a style, but for a variety of reasons (practical craftsmanship/production difficulties (competitors cannot do certain processes), competition distracted in other projects,….) this did not happen and they remained unique. They have all become an integral part of bathroom furniture history and best sellers of the period in which they were produced….” Again, the company’s designers wanted to look for new ways to shape and came up with: Nemea. A sanitary ware body that starts out narrow and widens as it rises, but this change in depth is marked not by soft curves (such as Muse Catalano) but by very pronounced straight lines and geometric hatches. The vertical development makes it, in our opinion, still a very high design series even though it is now out of production. Its original toilet seat cover is still available in the store at the following link [ clik here ]

Today we have seen other sanitary wares and their covers of old Ideal Standard production. The way to see and complete the complete catalogue of all the ceramic production of this company is very long but the important thing is to start. Perhaps you have recognised your toilet bowl and are able to buy the right and precise toilet seat cover without making a mistake. If, however, you are still in doubt about which toilet seat cover to look for for your wc in the bathroom, we suggest you send us an e-mail to info@sintesibagno.it or a WhatsApp message to 3341288978 with two pictures of your sanitary ware and a few measurements and we will be able to help you choose.
